This collection explores the character of a place by looking solely at minute and often disregarded details. Too often I found myself taking very technically proficient and aesthetically appropriate landscapes and cityscapes, only to discover that they were nearly indistinguishable from thousands of other proficient and appropriate images: the famous bridge, the historic building, the soaring mountainscape. I began looking around the edges of those obvious compositions and gathered details that aim to sketch the subject only peripherally, illustrating through nuance, shading, and texture.
